Accommodation
Up to 4 people can be accommodated. We have a Queen Bed (2 people) and a King Bed/Twin Beds (2 x extra long single beds). The whole apartment is a great option for people travelling together.
No, breakfast is not included in the price. It is an additional charge of $10.00 - $15.00/person/breakfast, depending on your choice of inclusions in the breakfast basket left in the apartment. However, it is well-equipped for self-catering. A variety of teas, coffee, sugar, some milk are provided – as well as a treat or two along the way.
No, you have exclusive use of the apartment facilities and space. If you pay for 1 bedroom/1 bathroom then the other bedroom/bathroom is closed, and the living areas are your own.
Yes, we live upstairs and are available if you need anything. You have complete privacy in your apartment.
You do have a private entrance. You access this by using the side pathway and entering through the sliding door on your private verandah. You can also choose to enter via the main front door of the house. This leads directly into your apartment (all ground floor).
The apartment is not serviced daily. However, you are supplied with towels and toiletries for the duration of your stay. For a weeklong stay, we do a midweek clean where we change sheets and refresh the apartment.
No, we do not have aircon. However, we usually have cooling bay breezes as we are slightly elevated just a block from the Bayside. The apartment has a combination of internal shutters, blinds and block-out curtains to cater for the weather. Your verandah also has blinds for your use.
You are welcome to use our laundry which adjoins your apartment. Discuss with us when you would like to use it. There is a clothesline for your use, as well as a clothes airer on your verandah. There is also an iron and ironing board for your use.
Usually, you can check-in from 3pm and checkout by 11am. However, if you have special circumstances, please speak with us and we will try and make a suitable arrangement, depending on bookings.
We have a No Smoking policy in the apartment and on the verandah. However, there is garden seating at the bottom of the garden where you can smoke, making sure you bin any butts.
We are kid-friendly but no extra beds can be placed in the rooms. There is a travel cot available if required at no extra cost.
Sorry, no pets.
We are not disability friendly. The apartment is on the ground floor and it is a level walk from the carport to the house. There are no stairs inside the apartment. Both showers have a small lip into the shower. There are no disability rails on the walls.
Transport
A car is advisable when you stay if you want to travel to different places for food, sights, visiting etc. If you don’t have a car, contact us. We can arrange to pick you up from Thorneside Station if you travel by train.
You have free undercover parking on site. It is a level walk from your car space to the apartment.
At Thorneside, there is a rail line linking Brisbane to Cleveland. Air-conditioned trains run every 30 mins and provide a reliable, stress-free way to get to the city. It is a 20 min walk to the station, or we are happy to drop you off (about 3 mins drive). There is also a local bus right outside our door that runs hourly (no service Sundays) and takes you to the station, or to Capalaba.
We are about a 35 min drive to Brisbane (26 km).
We are about 20km from Brisbane Airports. It is about a 25 min drive and is clearly marked.
Dining
350 metres down our road there is a coffee shop - BlueTongue - offering coffee and light meals.
Birkdale Fair is a 5 min drive from us (25min walk) and offers Woolworths, Paradise Fruit Shop, a quality Butcher, a bottle shop, and several light meal options.
Wellington Point is a 5 min drive away and has a great variety of eating/dining options. In the apartment is a folder containing many menus and suggestions for you. This has a real village atmosphere and is a very popular dining precinct.
Birkdale Fair is 3 mins away and has many casual eating options.
Manly is a 10 min drive away and offers many seaside dining options and coffee shops.
Gumdale is 10 mins drive away and also offers a range of eating options.
Local Attractions
Thorneside is a very leafy suburb of the Redlands and has a wealth of local walking/cycling tracks that weave along the Bayside and through the many parklands in Thorneside. It is a great place for relaxing and unwinding. You can do so much - just ask! We have lived in the area for over 25 years and have a lot of local knowledge to help you make the most of your time. There is a folder of suggestions in the apartment.
Manly have Farmer’s Markets 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, and Cleveland offers weekly Sunday markets.

We are midway between Gold Coast(South) and Sunshine Coast (North), being about an hour to an hour and a half away from both destinations.
